New Moon rising

The Twilight sequel soundtrack made an impressive debut this week, but it didn’t have enough bite to knock Michael Buble from the top spot on the Canadian album charts.

The music from The Twilight Saga: New Moon came in at No. 2, selling 14,000 copies, well behind Buble’s Crazy Love, which rang up 26,000, according to Nielsen SoundScan numbers.

It marks the third consecutive week at No. 1 for the Canuck crooner’s new effort, which has now sold over 100,000 copies since its release.

Meanwhile, two more premieres occupied the next two positions, with Stereos’ self-titled album (6,000) in at No. 3, and French artists Jean-Francois Breau and Marie-Eve Janvier’s Donner Pour Donner at No. 4.

The Black Eyed Peas’ The E.N.D. (Energy Never Dies) slipped one to No. 5, Marc Hervieux’s Apres Nous jumped up seven notches to No. 6, and Tim McGraw’s Southern Voice spent its first week at No. 7.

Rounding out the top 10 was Kevin Parent’s Kevin Parent at No. 8, Barbra Streisand’s Love is the Answer at No. 9, and David Guetta’s One Love at No. 10.

In the U.S., The Twilight Saga: New Moon entered in first, followed by Tim McGraw in second, Michael Buble in third, Jay-Z’s The Blueprint 3 in fourth, and Miley Cyrus’ The Time of Our Lives in fifth.
